The 45th Annual World Environment Day Celebration “Connecting People to Nature”, Dated: 5th May 2017

The Programme was organized by the Institute of Natural Resources, MBDA in collaboration with the Soil & Water Conservation Department, Forest Department and District Administration, East Khasi Hills at Madan Sangmein, 5th Mile, Upper Shillong. The main objectives of the program are:
• To promote a more conscious and healthier relationship with the environment, highlighting the fragile beauty of nature and our dependence on it.
• To protect the catchment area of Shillong Peak which is the primary source of drinking water for the majority of the localities in Shillong.
Participants were Government officials from Soil and Water Conservation, Forest and Environment Department, SRES and Water Resource, Schools from around the venue, Village Councils falling under the 5th-mile area, all staff of MBDA and green volunteers under MBDA. 2000 Trees Sampling were planted by the participant.
